Writing 101, Day Seven: Give and Take

Focus today’s post on the contrast between two things. The twist? Write the post in the form of a dialogue.

“Don’t over play it…keep it micro expressional…bring out the emotion.”

“You are insane. No one is going to feel anything with her looking at them like a still life. Bring some movement in!”

“NO. We don’t want to look like clowns, overdone and over played. We need authenticity.”

“Jesus, who’s going to care about your melodramatic zooms and pans? Is there any even intentionality there?”

“Naturally there are! And look who’s talking, what does your costumes and set even mean? What does shakespeare and steam punk have anything to do with each other?!”

“You just don’t understand changing the art form. I’m trying to make an old story interesting again! You like to rehash good things and make them awful.”

“Are you kidding me?! X-men first class–”

“Is the only successful one! So you can crawl out of your own ass with that one.”

“Well at least people can understand my choices. You trying to do Spiderman was horrible. People actually nearly died!”

“At least we had an excuse. What about your Spiderman movies? You had all that was needed, and you still managed to fuck it up.”

“Oh God at least people still pay to see my productions! You over charge for the ‘real person experience.’ What a joke!”

“Oh and you’re any better?! Jacking up the prices of movies! Don’t get me started on 3D! The biggest waste of money i’ve ever seen! If i wanted to pay so much for 3D i’d go out and live my own fucking life!”

“Shut up…”

“You shut up.”

“We have to make this show…”

“I know what we have to do.”

“We can add a little of both, movement and emphasis. Try to meet halfway?”

“Don’t try to butter me up, you bastard.”

“Oh for heaven’s sake–“
